Here are some examples of the weapons used in WW1:
Rifles:
Rifles were the most important infantry weapon in WW1.It's reliable, cheap and durable with along shooting range of over 1000 m.
Bayonets:
Bayonets could sometimes be attached to the rifle so that the soldiers could attack the enemy without having to drawing close but machine guns made these charges ineffective.Aside from being a weapon, bayonets could also be use to scrape off dirt on soldiers boots, digging and opening up food cans; an all-purpose tool.
Machine Guns:
Machine Guns were considered the most efficient on the battlefield for it's ability to disable frontal assaults, infantry attacks; forcing the armies to change their tactics to digging trenches. Firing up to 500 rounds per minute, this machine is capable of large scale murdering and killing. However the only disadvantages were that it requires a team to move and set it up, exposing the vulnerable soldiers to enemies attacks ; it can only operate on a flat surface also the engine might overheat and explode on you instead.
,
Artillery:
One of the deadliest weapon on the battlefield, the artillery can fire shells weighing over 900 kg within 2 km of range, causing mass damage on men and equipment. The iron balls and fragments from the exploding shells had killed off more soldiers than any weapon had during the WW1. The disadvantages were that the heavy shells were hard to move around and the shells ocasionally drop short and killed your own men.
Poison gas:
Poison gas was one of the most feared weapon for the symptoms it left behind: blindnesss, lung problems, skin irritation... And weeks of sufffering till the dreadful end.Not only did it grant its victims a slow and painful death, poison gas can linger at the attacked place for weeks and there was no way to detect it's presence. However the main disadvantage for poison gas was that it strongly depends on the weather so a change in wind direction could make it unpredictable and even kill your own men. Also, strong wind and rain could put out gas bombs.
Tanks: Tanks were first used in the battle of Somme,it had a speed of 3 mph and can only carry 3 men however this was later improved.Tanks played an important part in defending the troops to charge across No Man's land, sheltering them from machine guns and knock down barbed wire. The later improved tanks could carry up to 10 men and travel at a speed of 4 mph.
